No, it's not the sound of bells that 'drive Targaryens mad'..
It's the sound of our fandom collapsing as ARYA GOES TO KILL DANY NEXT EPISODE- which will result in SUBVERTING OUR EXPECTATIONS when Jon kills her instead.
Words do not exist to describe the kind of wretched cunts D&D are.
There. Are. No. Words.

So the scorpions that sniped a dragon three times in as many seconds, were basically fucking useless this episode?
Daenerys is a supposed mad queen but the Northern soldiers didn't hesitate to attack the Lannister soldiers that surrendered either. Jorah said it best "there's a beast in every man". People are just mad that Dany has a weapon no one else can hope to match. War is ugly as hell and conquering a kingdom is even worse. What the hell did people expect? Was she supposed to leave the dragons at home cause otherwise that wouldn't be fair to the other kids?
No fucking way would Arya abandon the chance to kill Cersei. No. Fucking. Way. Cersei who had a hand in the deaths of her father, mother, and brother. Who tormented Sansa for years and was partially responsible for Bran being pushed from the window.
The episode was beautifully shot. Ramin Djawadi did an awesome job as usual. It's too bad the writers are shit and so far up their own asses they can't see it.

Okay so my idea of what canonogically should've happened (I'm not a writer so bare with me);
-Jon is azor, but refuses to kill dany for light bringer - The living lose battle of winterfell, being pushed south -they attack kings landing in Hope of having a strong hold against the dead -Jamie, the hound, arya still sneak into the red keep -Jamie confronts cerci, whom is saying shes going to set off the wild fire stored throughout the city rather then lose -he attempts to stop her, she stabs him, fatally -cleagnebowl happens, but with ayra killing to hound out of mercy for his wounds mirroring earlier - arya finds Jamie near dead, he tells her to stop cerci but she can't get past her guards -steals Jamie's face to get to cerci, kills her as Jamie before she can set off the wild fire -the bells ring, but dany doesn't know cerci is dead -Dany in her rage at cerci(missandei/jorah still die) goes straight for the red keep burning the castle and accidentally setting off the wild fire -this kills millions of innocent people (unfortunately arya and grey worm) including much of her own troops - after the battle she goes mad with guilt and sadness, having nothing left - jon then kills her out of mercy and gets light bringer - the rest of the living defeat the dead - jon kills the night king
Then ending wise, jon either dies or goes to the wall and the kingdoms all run independently because kings landing is in ruin

It how I wanted the canon ending.
That's better than what D&D managed to come up with, and they had over two years!
I would've just liked to see the character arcs reach their logical end. Jon being the deciding factor in fighting the Night King, Arya completing her list, Daenerys gaining the Iron Throne but at huge personal cost, etc. I certainly didn't expect the ending to be happy by any means, but it all feels like it was all for nothing (and not even in a deliberate lesson on futility way). Jamie's redemption, out the window. Tyrion's realizing that his family really is irredeemable, bam all of a sudden his sister isn't a monster. Sansa suffering everything she did to yet again spill a family secret that is going to cost them all. Arya suffering and training with the Faceless Men to not take the opportunity to kill Cersei. It just feels like the first 6 seasons were all building up to something for each of the characters and then they pulled the rug out from under us and decided to wipe that all out for seasons 7 and 8.
Since Dany is pretty much one of my favorite characters her storyline for the last two seasons has been especially frustrating. For me her "madness" is a direct result of her listening to stupid men. Olenna said it best, don't listen to them be a dragon. Listening to Tyrion and Jon has lost her two key allies (Dorne and the Reach), two dragons, gave the Night King a way to breach the wall, half the Unsullied, half the Dothraki, her best friend Missandei, Jorah, and not to mention her confidence in herself as a leader. Tyrion and Varys especially have been undercutting her every step of the way considering they're her two supposed Westeros experts. Tyrion has underestimated his siblings every step of the way. Varys has failed to provide any relevant intelligence and started whispering for Jon basically the second Jon became an option. Its tragic, because if she had done what she wanted (which has always served her well) she would've had King's Landing a season ago, Olenna would arguably still be alive, she would've be able to rally the Southern lords to fight the aotd so fewer lives could've been lost, and that battle would've been fought at the Wall and not Winterfell. Just this episode, Tyrion had a golden opportunity to advise her well. If he had just told her about the beach entrance they could've snuck the Unsullied inside while she destroyed the Iron Fleet. Innocents wouldn't have had to die and Cersei could've been captured alive.

Bad writing all around.
Let me just agree completely with all of this, and say thank you for articulating each point so well. I'm still so angry that random flailing punctuated with a few pointed fingers and grunts is all I can manage.

Like I've said on here in the past, they KNOW how to start things, but they DO NOT KNOW HOW TO END THEM. For example, I've got this handy dandy link here, describing the fiasco that was Beauty and the Beast: ttps://www.denofgeek.com/tv/beauty-and-the-beast/22629/looking-back-at-beauty-and-the-beast

I am hoping the leaks will happen now more than ever, because I have a sneaking suspicion that D&D may not have Jon kill Dany because it might tarnish Westerosi Jesus' image (like they have not tarnish every other character we care about image). Here me out
Beware of the --Lion in the tall grass --- Tyrion betrayed Dany by freeing Jaimi --Mummer's Dragon -- In this case Jon -- Broke promise (really punk ass had Bran do it) --Perfume Senachal -- Varys -- Sent the ravens declaring Jon rightful heir -- Kragen -- Euron -- Killing Rhaegal -- Pale Mare -- What did Arya ride out on covered in ash this past ep?
Of course I am paraphrasing but that very long shot of Arya and the pale mare makes me extremely nervous. I am hanging my hat on the fact that D&D are not that clever. I hope the pale mare in the books is literal and It is just the disease that is spreading in Mereene, buuuuutttt. What do you think? Do you think that the only interaction Dany and Arya will ever truly have is Arya killing our Dragon Queen?

I will be brutally honest - I considered this. Deeply. I brooded over it for quite a while in the aftermath of Sunday's shitshow, because the lack of ANY interaction between Arya and Dany whatsoever sticks out as unnaturally strange. Dany wants to be accepted by the North and Jon's family, yet she doesn't exchange a single word with the sibling Jon supposedly loves the most? Arya learns the Game of Faces at the HoBaW, even plays it with Sansa last season, yet she can't take a moment to use those abilities to suss Dany out from the start? The entire situation is so ridiculous I couldn't help but wonder if it was intentional; to keep a wedge forced between them for Arya to make that kill at the end.
At the end of the scowling in the dark, I determined that this won't happen, simply because as you mentioned, D&D are NOT that clever. What they will do, thinking that they are clever, is the same shit a hack magician in the streets does in an attempt to make some change for lunch: pull the same shoddy trick twice. They will keep you distracted with Arya at crucial moments during the final episode so you'll think 'AHA! Arya always said she was going to kill THE QUEEN, we just didn't have the right Queen!' and then as a pathetically obvious 'twist' have Jon do it instead.
Moving forward, I'm going to call this sad little trick the Stark Swap.
Arya had one shining moment this season against the Night King, but that was only done because they had no other kill to give her and her entire arc would have been a waste otherwise. You can bet she will not get any other kills or do anything else of value for the rest of the series (sort of already proven out with how useless she has been after the Long Night - is she a capable assassin and warrior, or a child soldier who can't get their shit together in a crisis due to PTSD? Figure it out, D&D. Figure. It. Out.)
I'm resigned to Dany being murdered without ever sharing a word with Arya at this point. Do I hope I'm wrong? Absolutely. I'll still be watching closely in the final episode, just like all of you... but I saw the writing on the wall for this damn series at the end of Season 6 when I stopped publishing fanfic.
Lost fucking cause.

We're gonna need a lot of good fix-its and AU's to get us through the dark times ahead, Lonewolf Dx
I wouldn't be surprised if Arya killed, or at least attempted to kill Drogon, though. Jon might finish off Dany himself, I don't know. But Arya taking down the thing that gave Daenerys all her power might be plausible.

I am concerned that D&D do not want to ruin the image of the golden boy Jon Snow. The story is pretty much a pile of shit, it has been since season 4. All this because D&D did not want to hand the reign over to another show runners and wanted to go and collect that Disney check. Pride, ego and hubris ruined the series. I really do not understand it because they have said many times before that Jon was a dumb dumb. I wonder, if the leaks are correct and Bran is the King of Westeros, I wonder how many will finally realize that this was an almost decade long waste of fucking time.
PREDICTION: Disney/Lucasfilm will NOT repeat, NOT let Benioff and Weiss fuck up Star Wars. NEVER. They shelled out WAY too much money for that. George Lucas is a billionaire FOUR TIMES OVER because of Star Wars. Hell, he could remake the entire trilogy on his own. He's just letting Disney do it.
I think you have too much faith in George Lucas xD I don't think any sane publisher would let that guy touch Star Wars one more time with a 300 foot pole. Every time he touched SW it got worse after the original versions of the original trilogy. The tough ups, the prequels. Bleh.
And Disney fucked up with Solo. They aren't infallible. Rogue One has been the best produced new story from them, with TFA being decent, if only because it was like, a New New Hope. TLJ was okay, but obviously very split on who liked it and who didn't. I didn't particularly love, but I enjoyed watching it.
Solo was trash. Not due to acting, everyone did a stellar performance IMO. Just didn't play like a SW film, and the editing was bad.
