Anyone else underwhelmed with the first episode?

Specifically, I hate how they're diminishing Daenerys to prop up Jon. The amount of people describing her as "psychopathic" today has had me feel like I'm taking crazy pills! She hasn't done anything that any other leader on this show hasn't done. How is her killing the Tarlys any different than Ned killing the deserter in season 1, Jon killing Janos for not following his order, etc. It just feels like there's a really concerted effort to tear down her character cough*misogyny*cough.

I also thought the reunion between Jon/Arya was pretty meh, considering. The Jon/Sansa reunion was way more emotionally charged (imo).

The dragon ride felt like a completely different show, more disney/harry potter than GOT.

Overall the tone of the episode just felt off to me. The Night King has a dragon and the army of the dead has breached the wall, and everyone seemed pretty ambivalent about it. There was no urgency, there was no panic. Considering they had 18 months to get everything as close to perfect as possible, it was a let down.

Does it really shock anyone that D&D do everything possible to make Jon look good? Hell everyone was pissed that Sansa called the Vale and saved his ass. And instead of the venture North reflecting badly on him, it's somehow Dany's fault for losing a dragon to save his ass...again.

Sansa had just escaped ramsay and it was the first reunion. Lots more emotion envolved.

Dragon flight was more D&D living vicariously through Jon.

This week will be more setup and piece movement, but the last 4 should be epic tv that we expect after hardholme and battle of the bastards.

That's been the thing getting on my last nerve. My sister (who just started watching the show in the last 9 months-ish and now think of herself as the ultimate GOT fan) is just eating this shit up. Forge sex was alright by her because "he's fine" and the character assassination of Daenerys is ok by her because "Jon's the chosen one".

It all has me feeling like I'm taking crazy pills. I know book Jon is different but show Jon is a Gary fucking Stu of I've ever seen one.

I can't tell you how many people I've heard talking about Sansa and Theon this week. This is what I've struggled with alllllllll week. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so frustrating.

I'd love to know who you guys think is going to die in the battle tonight (and potentially next week). I think Theon (and the rest of the iron-born), Grey Worm, Jamie, and Davos are all done. I know odds are that Brienne is too, but I'm still holding out hope!

I also think Gendry is toast. There's really no reason to still keep him alive at this point.
