I'm honestly SHOCKED that no main characters died. I'm gonna have to call bullshit. No way that they would have survived that initial wave, especially since a few charactes were actually knocked down. I have to say that I think Martin wouldn't have let so many main characters survive that.
Arya and little Lyanna were total badasses. Daenerys was also pretty awesome actually picking up a sword and fighting back. Jon Snow reached Samwell Tarley levels of uselessness. I definitely liked episode three more than the previous two.
I will admit, I never once thought they'd give Arya the kill shot. I did suspect the Catspaw dagger might be the weapon to finish the Night King (there's a thread about the significance of that blade somewhere on message board), but I did not think they'd have the balls to let The God of Death's Former Servant commit the ultimate rebellion and destroy his tangible incarnation.
-lets out a low whistle- ..pretty fucking epic.
(can I also give a standing round of applause to the MUSIC at the end of this ep? Fucking FANTASTIC)
The good stuff is still shining bright and center, but I have to agree here:

Now, I know that since Cersei has been revealed to be the REAL 'big bad' of the series, there are more huge battles and deaths to come in the whopping 3 episodes we have left. That doesn't excuse the lack of major character deaths this ep. This was nearly an hour and a half of carnage, and aside from Theon, Jorah and Melisandre (all of which we knew had one foot in the grave already) we did not lose any main characters. That cheapens the battle somewhat.
(So, since Arya Ahai has now saved the entire fucking living world, think Dany might make time to at least say 'hello' to her next ep?)
Does Arya's totally badass scene give you ~ideas~, Wolf? ;D
But yeah, wasnt a lot of weight to the casualty list. We also didn't see any of the crastor boys fighting? Would have liked to see some like, individual battles between characters and the white walkers.
To seek out answers on matters of the heart is to make lost something that has already been found.

Agree 10000000% with the music being freaking amazing. Ramin always does a phenomenal job, but that last song brought so much to the scene.
I think they missed a golden opportunity not killing some main characters. The did too good a job making the army of the dead daunting. No way the front line characters would have survived that initial onslaught. More than that though, can you imagine Jamie getting killed and Brienne having to fight off undead Jamie? Theon having to kill undead Bran. Man the emotional toll would have been immense.
Finally, I loved that they had Arya kill the Night King. I kind of took him the other way, instead of Death's avatar I took him as more an insult. Bringing people back after they've received the gift, ultimate insult in my book. Arya killing him brings the gravitas back to death. It's final, there is no coming back. Killing him is the ultimate faceless man power move.

The lack of main character deaths was a disappointment to me too. The knight king has been in build up for so many seasons that it felt lackluster to have only a few main/side main character deaths, especially with the fan service the last two episodes.
However, having expected so many deaths I was still hyperventilating the entire episode thinking everyone was going to die. I literally jumped out of my seat screaming when arya jumped at the knight king so fearful she may die. Her being the prince that was promised was the best thing I could've asked for.
Also, we'd better get some lines of dialogue between her and dany now that she's the savior of the world. Lol
I agree with you, a lot of useless People, but Dany and Arya have been my favourite. Arya killing the Nights King and Dany Picking up a Sword, i like dthat. Showed a bit more that she was willing to realyl fight/work and make her hands dirty.
With my luck in having Arya as the hero, she might die trying to assassinate Cersei. Or a shitty happily ever after with Gengry *vomits*

Agreed. It's sad how disappointed I am gendry didn't die. Lol but the reasons are just for the never happening chance of dany and arya being canon. Most I hope for is a level of respect shown between them.

With how the show handles things sometimes, I wouldn't put it past them to have Dany resent Arya for not killing the Night King in time to save Jorah.

Arya being Azor Ahai is literally the best thing they've done in atleast two seasons. I also love that she killed him her way. While how she got to him is definitely debatable. The way she killed him, close and with a sleight of hand, is 100% in character. I would've hated to see them do something out of character.
Her being the princess that was promised, does beg the question why did Melisandre bring back Jon? Or maybe rather why did R'hollr let her? I've heard people saying that it was so he could bring the dragons North. Couldn't anyone else have done that though? If Sansa was leading the North she would have had just as much incentive to bring the Dragon Queen and her army north.i doubt it was because of the upcoming battle with Cersei for the throne, Melisandre was always focused on the Night King. I'm just wondering since the roar of Jon being the prince that was promised has now turned to crickets.

Unfortunately I think her being the prince/princess that was promised or Azhor Ahai is totally a show invention. I have been trying to rack my brain for a way for her to match the prophesy to see if I can write a fic about it, but I can't find a way thus far. I will work on it.

My theory is that Jon was needed to bring Dany North, Sansa may have needed to try and ally with Dany but she never would've tried to go get a wight to show Cerci and she never saw the White Walkers with her own eyes. She never would've had the drive Jon did to bring opposing armies together. I don't think Dany would've risked her armies for Sansa like she did for Jon. Canon anyway, lol I also like the Dasansa ship. So, the Battle Of Winterfell would've been lost. and Dany and Cerci would've been blindsided when the dead went south. He had his role to play, just like Dany and Beric.
Welcome~ This forum is a place for all Dany x Arya shippers to meet up and discuss the world, the lore, and the wonderful characters who make this ship! Have fun, everyone!
