When a writer is faced with indecision, or is reluctant to write a chapter, it's because they're dreading something. Whether that is making a tough decision, or typing out something they are obligated to write but don't really feel like writing, etc. Don't write what you are dreading. Write all of the other stuff surrounding what you are dreading, and go back to that piece later. And you may have an entirely new approach to make it fit at that point.
Dammit, so much angst over trying to set my framework for Skagos and Winterfell. I could have used this last year. XD
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Because if that's the line that reeled in Starky, someone else could be out there too, waiting for the courage to step forward and share their thoughts and talents. We're really not as scary as you might think
I have kept that in mind. Which is why when she first did it. It was Rhaegal the dragon himself pulling Arya into his mind rather than her slipping into him. I wasn't thinking of it being a nightly thing like with Nymeria but in emergencies where their minds reach out to pull her into him. If that makes any sense.
It makes more sense if there's familiarity and they had gone on some kind of previous bonding quest so Rhaegal knows she exists rather than trying to warg with someone he has no idea about simply because it's a warg-able mind.
Be the change you want to see in the world.

If I had only known then what I am learning now ;_; ..so much lost time.
It's okay, Starky, we were young and in love with the genre. And... Then we were heartbroken, and that shit takes TIME to mend. Time and distance, and then you can look at it objectively. Well, maybe. Someday.

Also Starky is amazing at taking the little nuggets and world building off of them. Which she did in Dany by the Docks was amazing. I still swoon over her Bravvos.
*feels like that could be a hint hint nudge nudge thought*
Revan just likes to make me blush. I'm convinced she has a tally board keeping track of it all somewhere
But I will be honest, DbtD was my favorite piece to write and a big part of it was I did have some freedom to create. When you are expanding a piece of the world that has only a barebones framework, you are free to roam without worrying about someone scowling and smacking your hand with a stick at any tiny deviation from canon. It's very liberating, and with that freedom any one of you could do just as much (if not more).
I dont, in fact have a tally board. But maybe I should as I seem to have a skill in making you blush. That said, if you want to take it for a little nudge, far be it for me to correct you.
Thats very true, it is liberating. You can find a similar spark and freedom in the fandoms with more cardboard characters (Looking at you Bethesda) or 'codex' worldbuilding (looking at you Bioware)
With GOT/ASOIAF we have a whole lot of Lore and History, but its very heavily focused on Westeros. And the majority of that focuse is in the 300+ years after Aegon's Conquest. When it comes to Essos, while there is some world building there, its more of a barebones, starting base then anything really involved.
And if you go back as far as the Age of Heros and the First Men? Its basically all open to your whims.
I am using this little nugget in one of my stories but I am willing to share--In ASoIAF we have wargs, but some people call them skinchangers. Are they the same skill? The Faceless Men use faces to transform. What if skinchangers do not need a face of a dead person, but can just transform in anyone who is dead?
Intrigued Starky is Intrigued. Would they even have to be dead, I wonder? Or could they just skinchange into people the same way wargs do into fuzzies? So many possibilities...
Yes they are dead in the story, 'stored' in the 'weirwood net' . Arya is both skinchanger and warg in the story. I think Arya is a more powerful warg than Bran, she is able to warg into Nymeria from Braavos. I also think she wargs into a cat in Kings Landing the one with one ear that terrorizes the Red Keep.
Okay. so I tend to suffer from what I call 'Wiki Syndrom". Its like getting sucked down the Youtube Blackhole, where one link leads to another, leads to another, and so on until the sun is rising and you havent written a single word.
Gods, So Much This, I can't even remember how many damned AWikiOIAF tabs I had open in Chrome on any given day that were just hanging around so I could quick check things as I was writing.

Yeah, no forcing of the warging. Besides it was a very short moment in Rhaegal's mind before Arya found herself in Nym's furs.

I mean, there were the dozens of folks actually consumed by weirwood roots hanging out next to Bloodraven, so technically they'd be stored in the weirwood net, but as for bodies... I mean, this Could account for R'hllor's fiery kiss, what if THAT's what's warging into the recently dead and bringing them back in the case of Dondarrion and Stoneheart? Bran also mentioned being able to feel the previous riders in the ravens that roosted with the Children/Bloodraven, so there is that permanent afterimage of the rider in a living body, not sure about a dead one.
And would it have to be the Whole body, or just the face?

I wonder if that cat is Balarion, Rhaenys cat?
Yes!!!! My brain is not working, I really need to get my ass to sleep, you guys are too much fun, cutting into my beauty sleep. 4am is 4hrs and 40 mins away. Good night all

I think in the early days of Frosted Faith I had like 10-20 Wiki tabs, between the Show Wiki and the Book Wiki. Plus at least one map.
These days I usually keep the show and book wikis open, and the map and just research things as needed. But I'm not gonna lie. I've had nights where I'm laying there half asleep and an idea will pop into my head and I'll go.. 'would that even work within the lore???" and boom, on the wiki on my phone, searching. Its a terrible affliction.

And my muse tends to catch on things when I do this and spin out story ideas like no ones buisness. And it can be really really distracting.
One thing I'd suggest is.. decide the typeof story you want to tell. And the length of it. For example with Red Blossoms, I decided that I was gonna tell something fluffy, but not very lengthy. Not every story needs to be an Epic after all.
Another thing you can do is post what you have for both stories, either here or on Ao3. And gadge the level of interest in both. And then focus on the one that the readers most enjoy.
Or you can be a crazy person like kabukidance and write three epic length stories at once.
I like the term 'Wiki Syndrome' my manifests with more stories popping into my head while I research. I don't want to do both of the same time that will drive me crazier than I already am. I will be posting here, I think I would rather share here my first time around, it is a safe space.
Thanks Rev
You're welcome.
Honestly I think if any one of us wrote half the stories we have plot bunnies for we'd all need to first be as rich as GRRM himself just to have the free time.
I will spill the secret to that awesome Braavos that made everyone fall in love with DbtD. I mean, besides Starky's general awesomeness and insane dedication when she's on point and driven.
A map. That extra whatever money she spent on a specific Braavos map gave us things like that diving scene in the Drowned Quarter, which, if left to the book's alone, we wouldn't even know Existed.
All completely true. I spent $40 on the entire maps of Ice and Fire set, just for that one map. Which now has a tear along the fold from overuse.
Best $40 I ever spent.
Lol. I think I have a link to a poor man quality version of that map in the resource thread. I'd love to get that book myself. But I dont have the $40 to spend on it. xD

Dang, now I'm all gear cranking on R'hllor and dead people warging and FM blood magic and whether or not they let her stay Because of the skinchanging and maybe they're All skinchangers.
Inhabiting new bodies forever, and the first No One is Still Alive.
::aaaaaah plot bunnies why?!::

I kinda like the idea that the dead faces are just for convinence. After all, a Faceless Man is much less likely to get caught if the actual person whos face they are wearing is not running around some where.
I'd think though that changing into that of another living person (like Mystic from the Xmen) would take more effort. Example would be Arya wearing the face of say... Grayworm, when Grayworm is elsewhere. She'd have to first spend a shit tone of time spying and studying him because shes going to have to morph herself into him well enough to not get caught.
Or changing into someone who while dead, you dont have the 'face' for. (like the hall of faces) would require that Arya having to have known the person whos face she is using. So if say.. Arya decided to kill little finger, she could have done so wearing the face of her long dead mother. (because that would have really fucked with the creepy bastard)
Another interesting idea would be that true masters of face/skin changing would beable to just... make up new faces. (So Arya could literally make herself into Arry -suggestive eye brow wiggle here- )
Welcome~ This forum is a place for all Dany x Arya shippers to meet up and discuss the world, the lore, and the wonderful characters who make this ship! Have fun, everyone!
