I had three stories floating in my head at once and since joining House Danarya 2 more have crept in. Started 2 and going back and forth between the two and can't separate them.
--- Arya is the eldest Stark that runs away from home at age 9 ends up beyond the wall and reappears in prologue. She is the Wolf Queen, the Queen Beyond the Wall. She has the magic of the Old Gods and acquires her fighting skills through the Weirwood Net and Bloodraven. Meets a certain Dragon Queen in the past, who reminds her of Dany.
--Arya daughter of Brandon Stark and Ashara Dayne, married in secret in the Isle of Faces during Tourney at Harrenhall. Spends her time traveling all through Essos has mad skills, encounters a Dothraki Bloodrider, before he was Khal, meets Dragon Queen and gifts her Darksister.
Issue is can't decide which story to focus on, they bleed together as I write and that is a problem. I have to make a decision or neither of them are going to get done.
Wondering about something that the ASOIAF wiki just can't answer?
Feel like just bouncing some ideas you have into the Stargaryen 'verse and seeing what comes back out?
This is the thread for you.
Ooh, I do like the potential of this, the 200hr learning curve on A Wiki OIAF is a Harsh mistress.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Because if that's the line that reeled in Starky, someone else could be out there too, waiting for the courage to step forward and share their thoughts and talents. We're really not as scary as you might think
Not that we dont all end up brain storming in the other threads by simple fact that we are all nerds and go "Holy shit, thats an amazing point. I got this plot bunny now"
But having an actual place to get help or bounce ideas off the wall and eachother is a good idea.

Maybe a house vote would help?
Depends on which world building that's been glossed over interests you more, The Land of Always Winter and the CoF, First Men, Age of Heroes and weirwood/warging
OR
Old Valyria, the Doom, Essos, the Shadow of Asshai, Dothraki and Valyrian Steel?
Because you Will be learning a ton to make it work well, so you'd better like the research.

man both of those world buildings look hell of interesting. and it would require a ton of research.

Which. Oh Hai There ~
Also Starky is amazing at taking the little nuggets and world building off of them. Which she did in Dany by the Docks was amazing. I still swoon over her Bravvos.
For example,I fabricated this one document that Sam finds as an Iron Apprentice in Oldtown (was going to use in Western Dawn). It talks about how the first Faceless Men escaped, led by the Moonsingers and founded Braavos, but the first No One learned the magic of the Children to cause the Doom and destroy the Valyria that enslaved him. (not kidding, it was at least a couple days worth of research in my free time, and it's a tiny thing)
The Book of Faces: : a collection of found scrolls and passages Translated by Copper Novice Aemon
Dated in the 24th year of the freedmen's escape from the dragonlords
Storms do come, they do go, they do come again. Each time we build. Each time it go. A vision seen, miners once we were, miners we can be again. We make and shape that of a city. Most mark'd be the Temple of Moonsingers, by their foresight only have we lived. Strangers appear in fog, we know not where they from or how they ken, but they are droves, all shapes and aspects. The priestesses know them, never have they seen them. They were dreamt during songtime, dreams focused sharp by smooth, pointed heads and the real shaped from nothing. Most curious of them are small, with slitted yellow eyes akin to slavers' beasts ahaunt my dreams. Their hide patched light and dark, sunlight dancing on water. Spoke they little, but share kindred with a single freedman of our journey. Forsaking birth and family, known only as a man. Consult they, until darkest hour of moon. A man does nurse himself injurious. We freedmen build and scrape, he whispers with the strangers, eyes hard like mountain rock. Vengeance suit him, more than freedom, more than prosper.

*feels like that could be a hint hint nudge nudge thought*
So Someone may be stuck on where to go with their fic *looks around sheepishly* Mostly because how do you think an Arya not tempered in the House of Black and White will react to Theon. Plus debating whether or not to have Arya be a dragon rider or if wants to do something like Rhaegal allows Jon to ride him but still prefers Arya over his rider.
This is the problem I am researching both at the same time. I have been working on both the stories for about a year now, I love the research, I can't decide which to do. My Muse is a fickle mistress, one day she wants it all to be about Essos, House Dayne, Old Valyria, Dorne and the next day it is all about the Old Gods, Bloodraven and the possibility of the Children of the Forest existing in Old Valyria (before is was Valyria).
I've lost so many hours on the different wikis. So many hours.
Like, I could be so much further in FF if I hadnt lost so many hours. (Then again, FF wouldnt be as good.. so its a double edge sword)
Raise your hand if you've ever been personally victimized by the Wikis?

She'd punch him in the face.
In the past, dragon riders were almost always at the very least dragonseed. Bastards of House Targaryen, as well as House Velaryon, usually sired by the custom of the 'First Night'. Note I said almost always, as theres always wiggle room. But this is the lore of it.
Further more, as far as the lore goes, once a dragon has chosen a rider, they would never allow another to mount them until their rider's death. Aegon's I's dragon, Balerion, the Black Dread for example, had two more riders after Aegon, Maegor I and Viserys I. (And I think he may have had at least one or two before Aegon)
And a rider wouldnt mount another dragon unless their first dragon had perished.

The thing is that If I went the way of having Jon be Rhaegal's rider. Arya wouldn't be a dragon Rider, herself but she could still warg into Rhaegal. It's based around the idea that while Rhaegal allows Jon to be his rider. The dragon would still prefer Arya's presences over Jon's. So you would be more likely to find the green dragon curled around Arya even though she's not his rider.
And holy snap I take a few moments in one other thread and find an explosion here
Wow!
Very glad this is so well received. One thing I have learned is that there are times when just tossing an idea to a friend can actually open the door to something even better (a few sessions with Munky did lead a few chapters of DbtD to be much better than they were originally penned out as). And sometimes just having a fresh pair of eyes looking at something that has you stumped can result in a simple solution that breaks away your roadblock.
Also, getting some feedback for ideas can help you decide what you want to pursue when you have more than one plot bunny dancing in your head.
We have a small, but tight little community here - may as well use it
Issue is can't decide which story to focus on, they bleed together as I write and that is a problem. I have to make a decision or neither of them are going to get done.
If they are bleeding together as you write, it means that the characters themselves - personalities, dialogue, particular scenes you want - are actually what you are more interested in right now. The worldbuilding is secondary.
This may sound crazy, but I actually recommend just writing those portions out now. Don't worry about which fic they fit into; you can decide that after you have completed them. After they're done, you'll know where the pieces will best shine.
When a writer is faced with indecision, or is reluctant to write a chapter, it's because they're dreading something. Whether that is making a tough decision, or typing out something they are obligated to write but don't really feel like writing, etc. Don't write what you are dreading. Write all of the other stuff surrounding what you are dreading, and go back to that piece later. And you may have an entirely new approach to make it fit at that point.
Welcome~ This forum is a place for all Dany x Arya shippers to meet up and discuss the world, the lore, and the wonderful characters who make this ship! Have fun, everyone!
