Like I'm amused and happy that it was Gilly who read the little tidbit. But Rhaegar no D&D are assholes for what they did to Elia and her children. Like lets add insult to injury here because not only were you killed been a prisoner in Kingslanding by the Mad King but yeah you're not my wife no more and those two are now bastards.
::grumbles::
Wait, wouldn't an annulment mean the marriage was Never Consummated? If that was the case, who on Planetos fathered Elia's children?
That would be a really big plot hole in HBO's and D&D's part if that's the case.

One of...many?

Because if that's the line that reeled in Starky, someone else could be out there too, waiting for the courage to step forward and share their thoughts and talents. We're really not as scary as you might think
It would. Which means that Rhaegar should not have been able to get an annulment at all. Because we know that his children were his. As Aegon was at least said to have his coloring. Maybe the Doctor fathered Elia's children... would explain the hard births after all are TimeLords and Humans compatible to have kids?
Clearly the first No One came in, somehow wearing Rhaegar's still living face, and fathered BOTH Elia's children, a couple years apart, as one last giant 'fuck you' to the Targaryen bloodline.
I mean, was it really so hard to just say "divorce," guys? did it really Have to be "annulment?"
That had to be it.
Even still a divorce, which wasn't a thing during the medieval setting but fantasy world could happen, would have anger Dorne because Rhaegar would still be setting aside their beloved Princess. The fact that the episode claimed the secret marriage took place in Dorne is just another insult to injury there too if Elia was unaware or didn't agree with Rhaegars plan.

Where they would have found a priest in Dorne willing to do That ceremony, I'd like to know. The Tower of Joy thing in Dorne didn't ever make a whole lot of sense to me, with either willing or unwilling Lyanna, unless Elia gave it her blessing and the three of them were in some kind of happy poly triple relational configuration and Lyanna was their Unicorn.
And yes, I have considered writing that.

Hell if I know where they would have found someone to do it. I'm more incline to the happy polyship too.
I have seen a fic that was a Stark Fix-it where Jon, Bran and Sansa go back in time. And Bran learns that Lyanna/Elia/Rhaegar were all together. This is one fic I like because you get the season 6 trio back in their s1 roles and see how they would have done things differently if they had the forth knowledge.
I think you had the right track, using the ragefest that is Sunday night GoT to fuel your fix it fic.
Make sure you have your slow 3/4 profile head turn down.

Red Lantern Sithdom ftw! On that note, tiny human needs his bedtime, so I'm off. Catch you on the flipside.
