So, being a nerd, I do indulge in the occasional anime.
In my defense, though, I am very selective about it, because I don't have time to waste on generic crap, and I am a bit of an elitist nerd in that particular realm XD
My personal favorite anime series is Berserk, based on a well-written, long-running manga that is still not finished, and-

-sideways glance at Berserk volumes, then at ASOIAF novels, and sighs- ...well, fuck me...
ANYWAYS!
It's a very dark medieval fantasy which helped to inspire the Dark Souls series, and it has huge swords, mercenary companies, royal conquests, and scandals - along with demons who need to be killed with the aforementioned huge swords...
So, the original anime series (I think it came out in 1998-1999) is a little aged, but if you can get past that, well-worth watching.
If you can't get past that, the new, rebooted series has just started airing with Episode One: The Branded Swordsman. And it's superior to the original thus far, including some of the original content that was cut from the first series, so.. Even More Worth Watching.
How about everyone else? Have an anime rec you wouldn't mind sharing, for the rest of the Danarya 'elitists'?
Also, on a sidenote, I do in fact love Attack on Titan, and if I had time, I would do a Danarya crossover in that 'verse because so much death and fun.
