Quote from GRRM: "All of the Stark kids have certain links to the wolf. In Westeros there's a certain amount of identification of all these great houses to their signs, to the animal charges that they bear. For the Starks, it goes a little beyond that. Especially in this generation with these direwolves. It's more than just a handy metaphor with them."
Regarding Nymeria- "In all my years the biggest pack I ever saw had fewer than a dozen wolves in it. But the great pack that prowls along the Trident now numbers in the hundreds."
Jate said the pack was led by a she-wolf of monstrous size. A Direwolf, to hear him tell it.
She says there's this great pack, hundreds of them, mankillers. The one that leads them is a she-wolf, a bitch from the seventh hell. No trap nor snare can hold her, she fears neither steel nor fire, she slays any wolf that tries to mount her, and devours no other flesh but man.
Since HBO is smoking crack daily now, I have no idea what the hell they will do... but, so far, Ghost and Nymeria are still alive.
There is a bit in the book, when Catelyn is praying to the Seven, that she sees Robb and Jon in the Warrior statue - followed by Arya(!).
Since Robb went to war first, then Jon in the north (in progress), it's likely Arya follows after the Battle of the Bastards sometime, based on this 'foreshadowing'.
So they may go the theorized route where Arya has now acquired her killer skills, and will lead a massive pack of wolves into battle with Nymeria, and end up saving everyone's asses at some point.
...or they'll just butcher that too. I have no idea.
I really hope Arya gets to reunite with Nymeria. But i highly doubt it will happen this season, if it happens at all. But i will be very much happy to be proven wrong

I want to say I'm sure it will happen... But HBO really has been smoking some serious crack.
...I have no idea what the hell is actually going to happen in their Televised Fanfiction @_@
when i read the supper pack in GOT i kept thinking GRRM does not understand how predator and prey dynamics work. Wolf packs are small for for several reasons. one is they are based on the family relationships of female of the same lineage. male pups upon maturity are almost always caste out as is the case in almost all animal populations. they understand instinctively regressive genes. the second reason is a supper pack approaching 200 individuals would devastate the local prey population. wolf packs can need up to 600 square miles to support their numbers of 6 to 15 individuals.
Makes for great story telling though.
