This might already be old news to some, but it's worth a bit of celebration for all of us Gamer Geeks just the same:
A rumor has emerged on the web suggesting that Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is working with FromSoftware - the developers of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and the recently-released Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - on an open-world video game.
According to the report, FromSoftware will develop the as-yet-untitled project and Bandai Namco will publish it, with the Game of Thrones author reportedly creating the world of the game and writing for the title. The game will reportedly drop the player into a vast open world comprised of different kingdoms, allowing you to choose which area you want to travel to and tackle first.
Anyone who has enjoyed these games knows what a perfect match this would be. We already had a few discussion and art threads back during the early days of this board giving Arya a Dark Souls 3 makeover - maybe if this pans out we'll be able to take her on adventures 'West of Westeros', too.
From Software is famous for death and resurrection events/themes. Bring. Dany. Back.

My only issue with this is that Game of Thrones... games tend to all suck. I mean. the Tell Tale one wasnt bad from what I saw of it. but.... as far as GOT RPG? *Groans*

Ah, I'm not worried about that because I don't think this is going to actually be a licensed GoT game - more of an original IP that is a strong spiritual successor with obvious ties and GRRM lore/writing. Plus, since Miyazaki took over From Software, every game they've released has knocked it out of the park. They don't rush.
One rumor suggests it might actually be Nordic in nature though, so if that's the case I guess I will be doing some major North/Beyond the Wall roleplaying XD

I'll wait and see. Theres very few games I've even been mildly excited for in recent years. -- And I'm not gonna get to play the ones I am interested in until I upgrade my pc anyways... unless I want to shell out money for a console.
For those curious lurkers, yes the rumors were true:
As is From Software's style it is an extremely cryptic-yet-dark reveal, but I do see Nordic deity influences. And since it's an original IP that's only collaborating with GRRM for some worldbuilding and character creativity, I won't even pretend that I'm not going to tell them to SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

I was squealing at work today, looking at this trailer haha. Really pumped for it!
A Simple Cup, I see you are a man of sophistication and fantastic taste in videogames! ((also, thank you - I feel much better knowing I am not alone in my absolute HYPE for this))
