it is kind of funny. seeing you all losing your mind's over HBO. the whole HBO experience for me has been Da Fuck. i gave up on them after season two. Have two straight women i talk to at work though about GOT and they LOVE it. they keep me up to date on HBO GOT. They have not read the books so to them this is all canon. i would like to take a cannon and fire it at HBO. To keep my hair i had to stop watching.

Dont get me wrong, books will always beat the show. However, theres some things that shw show has done that I've liked, either because it wasnt done in the books, or it was just epic. (The Arya - Tywin scenes come to mind)
I'll grant you that theres also some things the show doesnt do right. And one of those is obviously how fast events are moving. (Perhaps in part because the younger actors can no longer pass for the ages their characters were in the books, so theres some fiddling there. I tend to suspend logic and accept a time jump. More so between seasons. in order to explain that sort of stuff)
And as we move away from known source material. (and even diverge from Martin's writing) I view the show less as canon, and more as... expanded canon or canon redux.
In complete honesty, I actually quite loved the show until season 5. And even in season 5, even though I questioned some changes/decisions, I kept faith because after 4 (in my opinion), very solid seasons, HBO had earned that grace.
However... This season feels rushed and sloppy. And I'm tripping over plotholes and lazy writing -everywhere-.
I can understand making changes. Like Revan, I even prefer some of those changes over the original material (Tywin and Arya, of course, but also dat Brienne vs The Hound brawl was pretty damn awesome). I appreciate the shearing of much of the excess that can clutter the novels (Lady Stoneheart, I am looking at you). I also REALLY appreciate the fact the characters are older in this version of events, because how young all the kids were in the novels always did bother me. And that point continued to bother me even upon re-reading. And I appreciate we'll get some long-awaited novel reveals/spoilers from the show. Because GRRM will die before ever finishing the damn books.
But now, we are at a point where the novels and the show are really two separate 'verses. In fact, I would go as far to say that the show is becoming AU Fanfiction - meaning that GRRM doesn't -really- have a problem with fanfiction, so long as you have sufficiently bribed him for the privilege of writing it first.
But... my spite is ebbing this morning. I re-watched that whole sequence with Arya, and, I'm not trying to go all tinfoil hat - but something was off. I don't know if that was actually Arya stabbed. In fact, I'm wondering if the FM were actually setting up to get rid of the Waif, who -clearly- is not 'No One' with all of those big jealous/vindictive emotions running around. Arya's mannerisms, her facial expressions, her sudden bags of money as she strolled through the streets with her arms behind her back pre-stab.. That all screamed 'Jaqen', not Arya. But the biggest tipoff? No Needle. She knew a showdown was coming. She had Needle with her in that hidey-hole, waiting.
And in next weeks preview we have her running around jumping buildings all parkour style - unless a LOT of time has passed between the eps, um... no way she's pulling that off with her guts skewered. Nope.
Spite!Fic will remain on the shelf until I see more. There may be redemption.
No. There was no redemption.
There was just more stupid shit. D&D, you are talentless hacks suckling on the weathered, hairy tits of better men than yourselves and STILL manage to Botch Up Everything.
Spite!Fic has a green light, but I doubt I'll have the inspiration to pen one frickin' word for a while.
2 years of Badass Assassin Training = Arya becoming Cartman: 'Screw you guys, I'm goin' home'.
No Parkour, rather, fumbling down Braavosi streets tearing out stitches and ruining fruit vendor baskets. Then, for a SPECIAL SHOWDOWN! ....Needle -cuts a candle-.
Then, then, Waif's face is added to the wall, where No One declares she is Arya Stark and is going home.
...and... that's it.
2 seasons of training and so much screentime spent with the Faceless Men amounts to 'screw you guys, I'm goin' home.'
And next episode - Everything Is All About Jon, And He Gets All the Nice Things Again! Stay Tuned!
It's come to a point where I don't even wanna know about Winds of Winter, after reading that 'Winter is Coming' book xD I believe I've started feeling disillusioned once more, which is amazing since I never had any hope in the first place (because let's be honest, there's never going to be a loving queer relationship in the books or series at this point, best not kid ourselves).
I feel like getting twice as drunk after reading that :/

..what's worse is that things are actually shaping up to be 'three heads of the dragon' featuring Jon/Dany/Sansa or Jon/Dany/Arya..
Because we all wanted Bloodlines to be real, right?? >_<
They are hitting the Jon and Arya parallels so hard now it is RIDICULOUS. And no, it's -not- an accident. "My watch is over." "I'm Arya Stark and I'm going home to Winterfell" (after being stabbed IN THE GUT and left for dead by former mentors/allies) is just the -latest- in this transparent, cheap shit.
This is why I need to write original fiction. Because I don't need to sell out like a fucking whore in order to make sales - I have a real job to pay my bills, and I can fucking self-publish what I please whether people want to read it or not. And I can actually do something about THIS:
because let's be honest, there's never going to be a loving queer relationship in the books or series
i am not sure if i should say anything not watching the show but let it pass if you can. i knew HBO would fuck it up. they are definitely speeding things up to warp speed. Scotty would begging Capt. Kirk to slow down "oh my barrens oh my barrens."
i have been getting briefs at work and all i keep wondering is how in the world is Dany supposed to get back to Westeros in what 13 episodes now. The women at work love it not knowing the books but i keep thinking geez this going off the rails.
Please don't let HBO kill what we have here. I am to the point i am not sure i would read Winds of Winter if it ever comes out.
I feel for you Starky. Lets create our own more perfect world.
i would put in a funny face but it doesn't quite fit except maybe the throwing up one.
Tomorrow it won't seem as bad. i hope. Smile if you can.
saw your new post. yes write that more better world. their is plenty of lesbian fiction out there. not big time market stuff but definitely a niche you could live and thrive in.
would hope you could still create a little Stargaryen manna from time to time.
See the positive if you can which i know is rich coming from me.

Oh Dayz.. this has all really become BAD FANFICTION.
And the sad thing is, it will be all we get.
HBO will not kill what we have here by any means. I think we all just need to vent because when you put so much time/effort/energy into something, and then see it completely assaulted and molested, it's a bit unnerving.
We're all just blowin' off some steam. Things will be ok.

Not gonna lie mate, I've been raging seething bitter for days now because of this xD It seems if we want something done, we need to do it ourselves. The problem is it is probably being done, but I'm guessing a lot of business-related stuff factor into an author, who writes queer books for queer target audience, marketing those books towards (at this point) a sadly niche population. We're still breaking through media, but we've barely scratched the surface, and to be honest I'd like to see us claw into the core of hetero-media in my lifetime thank you very much.
Issa and I are also working on an original story ourselves. The best way for us to start making a change is to actually drive it forward. Drive the gigantic... drill... of uh... drillyness into that core and... I lost the metaphor. Well ya'll know what I mean.
Post by starky on 9 minutes ago Oh bloody hell.. that thing Revan said about cussin' like a wildling? Seems more than one of us has that problem XD
Don't worry 'bout that xD I'm wearing my 'courteous' hat on, so you're not seeing much of how I truly vocalize my opinions about such things ;D

Couldn't have said it better myself, kabuki Thank you for your positive words!
I don't need to go into the Batman comparisons, if you've read Allegiance you already know my thoughts on that. A good case could be made for some 'Black Widow' comparisons as well, but.. I don't think she really counts. We had our 'Daredevil' arc. Now, apparently, we be gettin' Arya as Wolverine - because after being stabbed in the gut multiple times, and having the blade twisted for good measure, she MUST have some mutant healing powers because WTF? XD Next, I guess, will be Arya as Iron Man - Ready To Be Known as a 'Stark' Again. ((and no, I couldn't bloody resist))
Welcome~ This forum is a place for all Dany x Arya shippers to meet up and discuss the world, the lore, and the wonderful characters who make this ship! Have fun, everyone!
