I feel you. This series has so many great female characters and it's frustrating how they're usually paired with guys so horrible and boring that I just went fuck it, I bet if Arya and Dany meet they would...and then BAM Allegiance happened and the rest is story.
As for FF in general I have to say Fleurmione (Fleur/Hermione) years may past but that one shall remain my ultimate OTP

The women in the series are just so top notch.
Id never actually thought of Fleurmione before but I LOVE it
Fleurmione is one of those ships who initially makes no sense whatsoever (basically a crack-ship) but then hits you with it's awesomeness and potential so welcome to the dark side :3

I really do not remember what characters I started with but these are some of my favorites: SuperCat, Swan Queen, Calzona,Fleurmione,Bella/Tanya from Twilight .... They are many to mention them all.
Well the one the first fanfics I remember reading was an unfinished GOT with Arya and Dany being the main characters but not really being shipped together. In fact most of the characters weren't being shipped at all but I loved the storyline and the interactions between Arya and Dany so I sought out more works where they were the main characters, which inevitably led me to them being shipped together in stories and I was hooked. Starky wrote some of the first stories I read with Danarya and I loved everything Starky wrote, including a short story set in a trailer park. That's how I found this fandom and have loved getting to read more stories and art that others have posted. The talent on here amazes me. One day I hope to write one myself.
The fact that there were no ships sailing here yet other than one to three shot crackship kink prompts? When it was abundantly clear that FM Arya and About-To-Take-The-Throne-With-Dragons Dany were on a collision course after finishing aDwD.
Then that hooked a Starky that lit a beacon and created an entire fandom.
Prior to that had literally just been reading late 90s/early millenia X/G, and me actually writing fanfic happened after watching SuckerPunch in 2011 and needing to elaborate more on the really strong characters in a not so strong storyline.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Because if that's the line that reeled in Starky, someone else could be out there too, waiting for the courage to step forward and share their thoughts and talents. We're really not as scary as you might think

I've read a few the 100 fics set in the GOT universe. They were very interesting and worked well. I would highly recommend reading them.
I got into this ship because Arya is my fav! My first fanfiction was so many years ago -- I think Sailor Moon's Rei/Minako was the beginning. Nowadays it's mainly about Danarya, Clexa, and Root/Shaw.

For me it was actually Lexa before I even knew about the 100! One friend posted a picture that showed Lexa between daenerys and drogo and said she looked like their daughter and head canoned it. That's when I first saw Daenarys and Lexa and the rest is history
