I'm not a fan of these Reapings. I understand the desire to have an active community, but every community is going to have low-activity members or lurkers. I see these Reapings as something that might discourage or scare off new members.
Of course Revan is a great deal more aware of the community growth than myself, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. It's just my thought on the matter.
But we have nearly 100 registered members currently. Nearly 100 members, and thats after the spring clean up.
Do you want to know how many people have 25+ posts? A quarter of that. Which is sad enough since 25 posts isnt even that hard to do.
But do you know whats even worse? All the members with 0 posts. And all the ones who join, but never long in again after they join some of whom have 1-3... most have 0 tho. --- Its usually these people I these member list clean ups aim at. And people who havent been around for months.
In terms of community growth and activity; its often is better to have only a dozen or so really active or semi active members, then 100+ members of which 3/4ths have little to no activity. -- Some of which havent logged in in months.
The first saids its a small but active and passionate community and there for easy to get to know everyone.
The other saids except for these few people who are all likely friends, this community is likely actually dead.
Also. bare in mind, I'm actually not a terrible horrible dictator, and when it comes to stuff like rather or not to clean the members list; I do talk to the other staff members to get their opinions. I also talk to those members who are on the House Discord. I'm always asking "Hey guys, I got this idea for the House forums. How do you feel about doing X, Y, or Z?"
If we were a community with a 100+ active and/or semi-active members all with 100+ posts. Spring Cleaning would be something I do once a year where I not only clear up the member list, but also old threads and such. Because with that level activity I expect and could accept little to no activity members/lurkers.
But since we dont have that. I would much rather appear as a small but active community, then a small, and dead one.
