Music is life. Lets be honest. I'm sure all of us have playlists for everything from when we are pissed off, to when we are feeling sappy. Theres that collection of 80s and 90s music you put on while in the shower or driving. You have roadtrip music. You have writing or art music. I'm sure some of us even have music to fuck to and/or make love to.
So music is life. And in the theme of the D/A Playlist. This thread is for general music recommendations. Songs we enjoy and wish to share with the rest of the House, but wouldnt fit our favorite ladies so cant be posted in the D/A Playlist thread.
I'll Start with... Black House - Omnia If you have never heard of Omnia before. Its okay. Its a "neoceltic pagan folk" band from the Netherlands. I myself hadn't heard of them until a few years ago when my friend introduced me to them. And then in late August of this year I got the chance to see them live. - They are amazing.
Keeping with the theme of the above....
Helvegen - Wardruna If you have seen the show Vikings. You have heard this band. They've done some music for it. They are a Norwegian band, whom I have been so lucky to haven seen twice live. A rare treat since usually such bands dont make it to the US. This is one of my most favorite songs of theirs. Its fucking amazing live.
First off - big thank you to Revan for starting this thread. Selfishly, I almost feel like she was somehow reading my thoughts and made it just for me XD
Why? Because lately I've grown really tired of stale North American rock/alternative music. While I do enjoy other types of music as well depending on my mood, my main staple is rock/alternative, 'cause I just need the damn electric guitar like the fat kid needs cake. And there's not much -good- variety out there at this point. I mean, sure there's probably some great underground stuff with the indie scene, but I don't have enough time to try digging into all of that these days.
So I broadened my horizons a bit, and have started searching out overseas bands to expand my playlist. I quickly discovered Amorphis, a Finnish alt metal band that has become a fast favorite. I highly recommend the entire Skyforger album, which actually tells a series of stories from the Kalevala, which is a very beloved work of lore, poems, history, god-tales, etc of the Finnish people (The Skyforger is one of their old deity characters).
A sample below, 'Silver Bride' - after suffering betrayal that caused the death of his wife, the Skyforger crafts himself a new bride made from his metals.
So, Revan these finds you have here (Omnia, Wardruna) are fantastic. I think Wardruna also did some music for the Witcher 3 soundtrack, because I recognize the name, but I heard them on Vikings for sure. After work I will be spending some quality time music hunting for both of these!
Lol. Oh No. I started this thread selfishly for myself because The Black House popped into my head. and I wanted to share it with everyone here. But it didnt really work for the other two music threads.
You know, I dont think I knew they might have done music for Witcher 3. Good to know. I'll have to check later. (I should have been in bed hours ago.. oops)
And I will def have to explore this Amorphis. Since my first Faerieworlds three years ago, I have found my own taste in music have broaden even further. (I have music from anime and games and shit. But that hardly counts)
So.. I warn everyone in advance, I have some stuff to spam here.
I'm going to split this post up into a few entries so it's easier to navigate, but still completely understandable if you all want to bust me up like a cheapass pinata at a toddler's birthday party after.
I find that when I am in a creative mood, I turn immediately to instrumental-type music. But not just any sort of voiceless song, no.. I bust out the videogame soundtracks.
Now before people laugh, we're now at a point where game music is being composed at a fully orchestral level. I'm not just turning up beeps and boops, here XD
I could, quite literally, list off hundreds of epic game tracks sure to inspire anyone. But in the interest of trying not to crash the entire frickin' board, I'll just provide a sampler of some more recent works. Some games/series will have more than one track simply because they are that musically diverse and strong.
These are all songs that stand strong on their own, meaning you do not have to have played the game or seen the scenes they highlight to get something out of them. They just work.
First up, Final Fantasy XV. The soundtrack is 3 full discs of original music, and I whittled that down to just three selections. God help me, that was the absolute best I could do. They pulled out all the stops with this one.
Since my first Faerieworlds three years ago, I have found my own taste in music have broaden even further. (I have music from anime and games and shit. But that hardly counts)

DIRTY LIES!! It COMPLETELY counts!!
Clearly so. I had more once upon a time. But many computers and hard drives later.... (Although I'm sure those mp3s exist still on one old hard drive or another sitting in a box under my bed)
Also. You're level of music spam here surpasses mine in the D/A Playlist thread. This pleases me. As it means I made the right call in making this thread XD
