Wait and see what the future brings. maybe write something original.
This is what I am considering now. I do love writing - fanfiction taught me that - but, I don't want to be a patron saint for lost causes, either.
I do really appreciate the kind words and support.
I'm only sad cause I'll miss your awesome self ;_;
I am taking a break, but... I'd still like to be around as a support for other writers, and just to chill and chat with you all. Really, the fandom itself has become so secondary to me in comparison to all of the people who comprise it. You are all awesome, and Revan, damn you make me laugh like very few can XD ..I can't just lose all of that.
I honestly have zero expectations of Arya and Dany ending up together. I hope for them to at least have some interesting, meaningful interaction at some point... Mostly just for a jumping off point for fan-fiction.
Well, ASOIAF novel-wise, I did have some high hopes for something 'meaningful' - though not because I thought Dany would run off and marry Arya in the end. I understand the world we live in; that's not something a writer who makes a living from his craft would ever dare to do (sad truth is 'Bloodlines' was the closest to a realistic scenario I ever wrote for these two... but bloody hell, isn't that sort of terrible?). But on the other hand, it's very clear that a pivotal clash is going to take place between Dany and the Faceless Men/Arya - and to know that was just slashed and tossed to the cutting room floor is brutal. Now I know how the Dorne fans feel.
My honest expectation was that Arya would actually go ahead and try to be No One. And that 'Jaqen', along with his favored apprentice, would be sent to contend with this 'blood of old Valyria' threat.
And that Arya would intervene, because in the end, she is a Stark... and she knows Dany (and her dragons, creatures which she has been fascinated with since she was a child) do not deserve to die. Just like she knew 'Lady Crane' didn't deserve to be given to the Many-Faced God out of petty jealousy.
Yes, this would likely get Arya killed - but her death is strongly foreshadowed anyways. I do believe she will be dead by the end of the series (and for her, death is probably preferable to living a 'normal' life that would be expected of her), but there could have been an absolute beauty to that end. To die for love, even if it's misunderstood or one-sided or brief or doomed. To die doing the right thing; to die being her father's child.
I have no idea what the hell will actually be done now...
I think Kabuki said it best. You do write wonderfully. Perhaps you could take your planned original world building of Valyria for "Dany by the Docks" and shape it into your own universe?
I really do appreciate the support from you both. Skilled writers, these days, are in abundance... but there's always room for more good reading, neh? I do have some pretty interesting original stuff from DbtD still tucked away, and I am seriously looking at outlining some original work. Not a 'Lesbian Fiction' piece per se; but an actual series with diverse characters that -everyone- can enjoy... and will just so happen to include a damn awesome femslash couple to round out the cast (because inclusion isn't too much to ask for, especially when you have a 'verse filled with -so many- characters).
Art reflecting life, and all that.
